Rauner’s DCFS Hiding Child Abuse and Neglect Stats
Monthly Reports Haven’t Been Published Since July 2017
Chicago, IL – Bruce Rauner’s embattled Department of Children and Family Services is hiding key information about child abuse and neglect in Illinois.
After publishing reports monthly for the past 35 years, Rauner’s DCFS hasn’t published one since July 2017 and is now looking into whether they are legally required to publish the reports at all. This latest cover-up comes six weeks after Rauner abruptly fired DCFS Inspector General Denise Kane after she wrote a scathing review of Rauner ally George Sheldon’s corruption at the agency.
“Hiding child abuse and neglect statistics is a new low in Bruce Rauner’s cover up of his fatal mismanagement of state government,” said Pritzker campaign spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh. “Children are suffering while this failed governor tries to preserve his image instead of protecting the lives of our most vulnerable.”
