Rauner Covering Up His Fatal Mismanagement of Quincy Veterans’ Home
Chicago, IL – Bruce Rauner is making every effort to hide the damaging details of his fatal mismanagement of the Quincy Veterans’ Home from the public. Rauner’s latest move involves his administration denying lawmakers’ requests for the public release of their emails regarding the deadly Legionnaires’ outbreaks.
The failed governor has a pattern of covering up information. In 2015, his administration waited six days to notify the public that the outbreak looked like the “beginning of an epidemic.” Rauner inexcusably failed to notify residents, families, and staff of Legionnaires’ disease at the Quincy facility, prompting at least two families to sue the state for negligence.
“Bruce Rauner fatally mismanaged the Quincy Veterans’ Home, and this failed governor is still hiding information about the extent of his mismanagement,” said Pritzker campaign spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh. “Thirteen Illinoisans died on Bruce Rauner’s watch, and their families deserve answers.”
