Will Bruce Rauner Stand Up to Trump's After-School Cuts?
Chicago, IL – For the second year in a row, Donald Trump proposed eliminating a federally funded after-school program, and Bruce Rauner has shown no sign of standing up to Trump’s senseless cuts.
Rauner himself has eliminated after school programs in his proposed budgets every year he’s been governor, so it’s no surprise he’s once again cowering to Trump and ignoring the fact that failing to fund 21st Century Community Learning Centers could hurt 1,500 students in Springfield alone.
“Bruce Rauner and Donald Trump are partners in crisis, attempting to slash critical after-school programs that help our students succeed,” said Pritzker campaign spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh. “Illinoisans deserve a governor who will invest in our children’s success, and JB will be that leader for Illinois.”
