Bruce Rauner Botches Launch of Signature “Accomplishment”
Hours After Touting Administration's Use of Technology, New Rauner Website Crashes
Chicago, IL – Yesterday, as Bruce Rauner touted his administration’s use of technology to take a 21st century approach to government during his State of the State address, the website for his back-door voucher program, Empower Illinois, crashed.
The mismanaged launch of the failed governor’s signature program comes as Rauner has botched a series of agency crises. As Illinoisans across the state attempted to sign up for Rauner’s “accomplishment,” they were met with a crashed website and few answers:
“Bruce Rauner held school funding hostage and vetoed bipartisan reform twice to force his back-door voucher program, but still mismanaged the launch of his signature program,” said Pritzker campaign spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh. “Rauner touting his use of technology in the State of the State and having a website crash hours later just about summarizes the effectiveness of this failed governor.”
