Damage Done: Rauner's Budget Crisis Forces Pilsen Non-Profit to Shut Down Youth Program
Chicago, IL – Almost six months after Bruce Rauner’s 736-day budget crisis and the damage continues to be done to Illinois families.
Pilsen Non-Profit Mujeres Latinas en Accion was recently forced to shut down its youth program, Proyecto Juventud (PJ Youth), after Rauner’s budget crisis helped cause a $75,000 deficit for the program. PJ Youth provided critical counseling and educational programs for its students, the vast majority of which either witnessed or were victims of domestic violence.
“Children suffering from domestic violence in Illinois are being denied critical counseling services because of Bruce Rauner’s failed leadership,” said Pritzker campaign spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh. “Even six months later, the fallout from Rauner’s manufactured budget crisis continues to wreak havoc on the tools Illinoisans use to build better lives.”
