Questions Remain: Rauner's Legionnaires Crisis
National Press Highlights Rauner's Gross Mismanagement
Chicago, IL – Bruce Rauner’s fatal mismanagement of the Legionnaires crisis in Quincy caught national attention, raising questions that have gone unanswered for weeks after WBEZ’s investigation into the deaths of 13 seniors at the Quincy Veterans Home.
On Fox News, attorney Ryan Scheunke said, “It looks like there was knowledge that was not shared at least with the caregivers [that] could have aided in either the treatment of or the recovery of these individuals that ultimately passed away.” Meanwhile, Rauner has avoided addressing the topic and refuses to take responsibility.
“Weeks after Bruce Rauner’s stunning neglect of Illinois’ veterans was revealed, families still don’t have information from this failed governor on what went wrong and how he plans to fix it,” said Pritzker campaign spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh. “Rauner’s failure to take charge left 13 dead in Quincy and Illinois families deserve answers.”
