Damage Done: Rauner’s Budget Crisis “Accelerated” Population Plunge

Chicago, IL — The state’s population plunge is accelerating due to Bruce Rauner’s 736-day budget crisis, and it’s an especially dire situation among college students.

According to a report by Chicago Magazine, people are fleeing Illinois and even less are moving to the state. Illinois colleges lost a striking 72,000 students during Rauner's over two year crisis.

"After starving higher education funding and vetoing every state budget he was presented, it’s clear that Bruce Rauner’s damage is done," said Pritzker campaign spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh. "Illinois students and families deserve better than a governor who puts his special interest agenda ahead of the best interests of the state."
