Damage Done: Rauner Backlog Hits “Record $16 Billion”

Chicago, IL — Under Bruce Rauner’s failed leadership, the bill backlog has reached $16 billion for the first time in state history.

Reuters reports that the soaring Rauner backlog is part of "the fallout of an unprecedented two straight fiscal years without complete budgets." Even though he has the authority to bring $6 billion of bonds to market to pay down the old bills, Rauner hasn’t lifted a finger yet.

"Bruce Rauner threw our state into a 736-day budget crisis and tripled our bill backlog to a record $16 billion," said Pritzker campaign spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh. "Rauner’s failed leadership continues to wreck the state’s finances, and his damage is done on our state economy and social services."
