Republican Governor Lobbies Rauner to End Healthcare Silence

Gov. Baker in Chicago Lobbying Rauner to Oppose Cassidy-Graham Bill

Chicago, IL — While Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans continue their assault on healthcare, Bruce Rauner remains silent, even as fellow Republican Governor Charlie Baker is in town lobbying GOP governors to oppose the Cassidy-Graham bill.
An analysis by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities shows that Illinois would lose $1.4 billion in federal funding by 2026 and protections for people with pre-existing conditions could be scrapped under this destructive bill. While GOP governors line up against the bill and urge Bruce Rauner to join them, Rauner fails yet again to stand up for the people of Illinois and protect their healthcare coverage.
“It is a sad state of affairs when a member of Bruce Rauner’s own party has to come to Illinois to try and get him to do the right thing,” said Pritzker campaign spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh. “Over a billion dollars in federal funding and protections for pre-existing conditions could disappear under this devastating plan, and Bruce Rauner can’t be bothered to say a word.”
