Illinois Breaking Records For All The Wrong Reasons Under Rauner
Rauner Could Become First in State History to Miss a Payment to Public Schools
Chicago, IL – Illinois already holds the record for having the longest budget crisis at 736 days, but that's not enough for stubborn Bruce Rauner. By vetoing Senate Bill 1 and putting school funding and credit ratings in jeopardy, Rauner may make state history by being the first governor to miss a state payment to public schools.
“If breaking records for causing crisis was an actual accomplishment, then Bruce Rauner might be a halfway decent governor,” said Pritzker campaign spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh. “Instead, Illinois went 736 days without a budget, public schools are about to go without funding, and Illinois families continue to pay the price for the damage done by this historic failure of a governor.”
