Tick Tock: 728 Days Without A Budget

Powerball, Mega Millions Prepare to Suspend Ticket Sales Due to Rauner’s Budget Crisis

Chicago, IL — Today, on day 728 without a budget, Powerball and Mega Millions are set to suspend ticket sales in Illinois because of Bruce Rauner’s 728 day manufactured budget crisis. This unprecedented step is a first in their 20-plus years of operation in Illinois.
Not only will the lottery companies suspend ticket sales, but the Illinois Lottery will also stop payouts for any winners currently holding tickets worth over $25,000. This impending announcement will likely kick off days of devastation for Illinois with bond rating agencies set to downgrade the state to junk status, road construction preparing to grind to a halt, and social service agencies shrinking.
“Even the lottery thinks Illinois is a bad bet,” said Pritzker campaign spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh. “Rauner is a historic failure as governor and bond rating agencies, social service organizations, and even the lottery have had enough. We are just days away from ending another fiscal year without a budget, which will bring unfathomable damage to our state. Illinois is in big trouble and Bruce Rauner needs to do his job now.”
