As the Year Comes to a Close, CHIP Funding Still At Risk
Bruce Rauner Fails to Lead for Illinois Children
Chicago, IL – As Congress wraps up 2017 by ramming through Trump’s devastating tax bill, funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is still in limbo while Bruce Rauner stands on the sidelines.
CHIP is a critical program that provides health insurance to almost 9 million children. Because Congress has failed to renew funding, insurance for almost 2 million kids will be at risk as soon as next month. Even though a bipartisan group of governors have called for funding reauthorization, Bruce Rauner is doing nothing to stand up for Illinois children.
“Health insurance for Illinois children is on the line and Bruce Rauner continues to cower from Donald Trump instead of taking a stand,” said Pritzker campaign spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh. “Even in the clearest cases of right and wrong, this failed governor’s cowardice outweighs his responsibility to defend Illinois children and families.”
