Rauner Under Fire for Secret Medicaid Deal

General Assembly Held Hearing on Dangerously Low Reimbursement Rates Threatening to Upend Entire System

Chicago, IL – While Bruce Rauner is going to great lengths to shield his secret MCO deal from the public, the General Assembly held a hearing today to press for answers on a historically large deal that could jeopardize Medicaid in Illinois.
Crain’s brought Rauner’s MCO contracts to light after filing a Freedom of Information Act request with the governor’s office, but Rauner redacted information to keep the price tag under wraps. Rauner’s attempt to hide information comes as the deal has already violated procurement law and skyrocketed in cost overnight.
“Bruce Rauner is hiding the true cost of his Medicaid scheme and wants to stick Illinoisans with the bill,” said Pritzker campaign spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh. “Taxpayers deserve to know why Bruce Rauner violated procurement law on a deal that has skyrocketed in cost and could collapse our entire Medicaid system.”
