112-0: Illinois House Unanimously Rebukes Rauner on Debt Transparency Bill

Chicago, IL – Yesterday, the Illinois House unanimously overrode Bruce Rauner’s veto of the Debt Transparency Act, a commonsense piece of legislation led by Comptroller Susana Mendoza, which exposes the actual size of Rauner’s bill backlog.
While Rauner wanted to keep it secret, Mendoza outworked him again and got every state representative on her side. The historic, unanimous override comes as the bill backlog reached another near record-high of $16.4 billion today.
“Bruce Rauner wants to keep the state’s real financial pain under wraps because he knows his damage is done,” said Pritzker campaign spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh. “After going over two years without a state budget, Rauner tripled the bill backlog and now it’s time for him to face the consequences of bringing our state to financial ruin.”
