Bruce Rauner Stays Silent As Tragic DCFS Dysfunction Continues
Chicago, IL – A report by the Department of Children and Family Services Inspector General has shed further light on the agency’s dysfunction, according to a heartbreaking story published by the Tribune.
The report details the failures of an agency that conducts ineffective investigations into allegations of abuse and neglect and leaves vulnerable children unprotected. In one case, that failure led to the tragic death of 5-year-old Verna Tobicoe. The latest news comes after numerous investigations into the agency, including statements by the agency’s Inspector General alleging it was failing to improve under Bruce Rauner's watch.
“Despite repeated warnings from the DCFS Inspector General that children are being put in harm's way, Bruce Rauner has done nothing to fix this failing agency,” said Pritzker campaign spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh. “Illinois children and families are suffering at the hands of a governor who is failing to protect them.”
